Effects of 13 Mutagens on Rat Hepatic Microsomal Enzymes

  • Liu Yu-Gu

Abstract

Hepatic microsomal enzymes are the important enzymes involved in the biotransformation of carcinogens. It is known that many drugs, insecticides, and toxic metals are inhibitors of microsomal enzymes and that they can influence the microsomal metabolism of various drugs, mutagens, carcinogens, and other toxic compounds in the body. The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of cadmium, mercury, lead, arsenic, chromium, DDT, chlordimeform, trichlorfon, benzo(a)pyrene, aflatoxin B1, dimethylnitrosamine, cyclophosphamide, and mitomycin C on the activities of hepatic microsomal enzymes in rats.
