Influence of Activity and Age on the Working Capacity of Boys and Girls aged 8–12 years
Conference paper
Abstract
Many authors have studied the effect of training programs on cardiorespiratory fitness (Watson and O’Donovan 1977; Daniels et al. 1978; Hursti et al. 1980). In a previous paper, data were presented on the influence of extracurricular sports participation on the cardiac performance of boys aged 13–18 years (D. van Gerven, B. Vanden Eynde and H. Gerard, unpublished data). The purpose of this study is to present data similarly collected on 266 normal Belgian schoolchildren of both sexes aged 8–12 years. The effect of active sport participation as well as sex will be considered.
