Cropping System in Relation to Fertility of Paddy Soils in China
Conference paper
Abstract
China has a long history of rice cultivation. It is demonstrated that rice has been cultivated for more than five thousand years in the country. Following the social development and scientific and technological progress, the area of rice cultivation is expanded gradually. Now, it is found almost all over the country. It is estimated that the total area of rice fields approximates to 25,400,000 ha in China, about 25.8% of the cultivated area; and the total output of rice grain accounts for 45% of the total output of food crops of the country.
