Abstract
In his “An account of the foxglove” William Withering [1] wisely remarked:
Medical communication could be fast even in those days; in the year following its publication in Birmingham, a German doctor in Leipzig, Christian Friederich Michaelis, translated Witherings work to German.“It is much easier to write upon a disease than upon a remedy. The former is in the hands of Nature and a faithful observer with an eye of tolerable judgement cannot fail to delineate a likeness. The latter will ever be subject to the whim, the inaccuracies and the blunder of mankind.”
