Regional Wall Motion Following Intra-Bypass Injection of Nifedipine: Design of a Protocol and Initial Experience
Conference paper
Abstract
It still remains unclear whether Nifedipine at therapeutic dosages has a direct inotropic effect on the myocardium or whether the change in function is the result of changes in loading conditions [1,2,3]. Kaltenbach and his group have demonstrated that intracoronary injections provoke practically no changes in heart rate, but a small drop in aortic pressure [4]. This result has been attributed to a direct and specific negative inotropic action of the drug independent of a vasodilator effect at the periphery.
