The use of Butanediol 1, 4 as a Sedative in Man
A Preliminary Report
Chapter
Abstract
As shown by Van den BOGERT et al. (1) 4-hydroxybutyrate (4-HB) is a very useful sedative in the Intensive Care Unit. The main objection against its long-term use is the large amount of sodium given to the patient in this way. One gram of 4-hydroxybutyrate sodium contains 0,18 g of sodium.
