Flavoproteins

Abstract
The presence of flavoproteins in the photosynthetic apparatus was first reported by Avron and Jagendorf (1956), who discovered and purified from chloroplasts an NADPH-specific diaphorase. These authors also identified FAD as the prosthetic group (Avron and Jagendorf, 1957), but were unable to assign a physiological role to the enzyme in photosynthetic electron transport.
