Abstract

Primary malignant tumors of the vagina arise in this organ; there should be documentation that the lesion does not involve the cervix or vulva. It is a rare tumor, representing l%-2% of all gynecologic malignancies (Daw 1971; Herbst et al. 1970; Robboy et al. 1975). Most vaginal neoplasms (more than 80%) are metastatic, involving the vagina by direct extension or by lymphatic or hematogenous routes (Hillborne and Fu 1987).
