Zusammenfassung
Die ungewollte Kinderlosigkeit stellt für ein Ehepaar eine große Belastung dar. Sie betrifft etwa 10% aller Paare mit Kinderwunsch. Die Ursachen für die Sterilität liegen in etwa 35% der Fälle bei der Frau und zu 35% beim Mann. Bei etwa 15–20% aller Ehepaare mit Kinderwunsch ist sie bei beiden Partnern zu suchen, und etwa 10% fallen in den Bereich der ungeklärten (idiopathischen) Sterilität.
