Abstract

Membrane separation is a type of filtration for fine particles including molecules or ions. The driving force for the separation is mainly the pressure difference between the two sides of a membrane. In operation, various kinds of substances are separated under low temperature and without phase transition. Therefore, membrane separation is an energy saving process, and can be applied to separations where change of substance quality should be prevented.
