Abstract

Networks have become increasingly important vehicles for the diffusion of innovation. But relatively little is known about how location and policies affect the development of such networks, or their effects on the competitiveness of firms in various nations. Bringing together insights from both empirical and conceptual work on the topic should therefore help us to understand the many facets of innovation and its impact on regions and localities.
