Zusammenfassung
Das Konzept des so genannten „sentinel node“ (SN) wurde erstmals 1977 durch Cabanas [4] für das Plattenepithelkarzinom des Penis beschrieben. Es geht davon aus, dass die lymphogene Metastasierung eines malignen Prozesses über einen erstdrainierenden Lymphknoten im Abflussgebiet des Primärtumors, den so genannten Sentinel node (Wächterlymphknoten), ihren Weg nimmt und von diesem ausgehend die weitere lymphogene Metastasierung erfolgt (Abb. 11.1).
