Application of Mini TEA CO2 Laser in Neurosurgery

Abstract
Lasers are used in medicine due to their efficiency when coagulating, cutting, and vaporizing tissue. TEA CO2 lasers can be distinguished from other CO2 laser types especially by the high extractable peak power density of the laser pulse. In contrast to argon and neodym YAG lasers, CO2 lassers are suitable for cutting tissue. In contrast to the excimer laser the likelihood of chromosome damage due to radiation is avoided. Especially in case of laser treatment of steek tissue, for instance in neurosurgery, the laser energy must be deposited in the tissue with great care.
