Zusammenfassung
In der morphologischen und funktionellen Diagnostik des Herzens und des Gefäßsystems kommt den invasiven Katheteruntersuchungen, insbesondere der Angiographie, eine zentrale Bedeutung zu. Eine Vielzahl von klinischen Befunden und Verdachtsdiagnosen werden durch sie bestätigt, wesentlich ergänzt oder überraschend widerlegt. Umfang und Aufwand der Diagnostik sind der klinischen Fragestellung anzupassen. Die Indikation bestimmt daher auch das Procedere. Die interventionelle Kardiologie und Angiologie mit sprunghaft steigenden Zahlen der Angioplastien und Valvuloplastien die gezielte Gefäßobliteration bei Tumoren und Hämorrhagien im Zusammenhang mit inoperablen Befunden, die aortale Gegenpulsation bei Patienten mit passagerer Linksherzinsuffizienz setzen einen sicheren und unkomplizierten Eingang in das Gefäßsystem voraus.
