The Columbian Association of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Electronics (ABION)

Abstract

The Colombian Association of Bioengineering and Medical Electronics (ABIOIN), was founded in 1993, in Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia. Later, regional chapters were established in Antioquia (state), in the cities of the coffee axis, in the Caribbean region at Barranquilla, in Cundinamarca, and in the Valley of the Cauca. From this time it began to organize seminars, technological meetings, and symposia on specific topics of bioengineering. In 2003, ABIOIN sponsored the first Colombian Congress of Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering in Medellin, Colombia, with 510 participants and 100 investigative projects.
