Using EDA Technology to Design Comprehensive Experiments of Digital Circuit Course

Part of the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing book series (AINSC, volume 135)

Abstract

The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) technology represents the development direction of modern electronic design technology. This paper analyzes the problems of digital circuit experiment in our university, and proposes a new way which employs EDA Technology to design digital circuit comprehensive experiments to help students improve their comprehensive application abilities of the knowledge of digital circuit. Then, a comprehensive experiment named digital frequency meter is designed by combining the integrated applications of the common MSI such as Multiplexer, decoder, counter and register, which involves a number of knowledge points of digital circuit. The detailed module partition scheme and the implementation circuit of main modules are also given. The actual experiment results indicate that designing digital circuit comprehensive experiments by the use of EDA technology is helpful to improve students’ interest in this course and improve their comprehensive application ability of digital circuit knowledge.
