Multi-user Resource Allocation for the Data Transmission in the Internet

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the problem of allocating transmission data rates to users in the Internet. The paper provides a general problem of power and rate allocation that the utility functions can be nonconcave and nondifferetiable, which turns utility maximization into nonconvex, constrained optimization problem that is well-known to be difficult. To solve this problem, a simple iterative bisection algorithm is proposed for the adaptive multi-user resource allocation for the data transmission in the Internet.
