A Review on Frameworks for Decision Support Systems
This chapter is devoted to the research related to frameworks for the design of decision support systems. It introduces an overview of current research in areas of complex system analysis and decision making by means of intelligent tools, including those based on the agency paradigm. It also compares existing agent-oriented methodologies and frameworks for decision support. The review includes a series of tables that describe research papers dedicated to decision support systems in complex local and multi-functional systems, as well as methodologies of specific environmental information systems development. Existing agent-based proposals for decision support systems are categorized into frameworks for multi-agent systems planning and software tools for multi-agent systems design and implementation. A broad comparison between agent-based frameworks is offered. Furthermore, the chapter makes conclusions about the necessity of a general framework, which would combine characteristics of the former and the latter.
