Enthalpy of formation of Os-Y (osmium-yttrium) system

Abstract

This chapter provides the enthalpy of formation of Os2Y.

Thermodynamics

Using high-temperature direct synthesis calorimetry at 1473 ± 2 K Selhaoui et al. [93Sel] have determined the reaction enthalpy of formation of Os2Y, which was the basis to calculate the standard enthalpy of formation of Os2Y. The value obtained amounts to:
$$ \Delta {\mathrm{H}}_{298}^{\mathrm{S}}=-24.8\pm 2.8\kern0.24em \mathrm{kJg}-{\mathrm{atom}}^{-1} $$
