The Weak Interaction

Abstract

The weak interaction transforms different quark species into each other. Today we know about six species of quarks, which differ in their masses and electric charges. Leptons are, by definition, those elementary particles that feel the weak but not the strong interaction: the electron, muon, tau-lepton, and their three corresponding nearly massless neutrinos, which can be generated by the weak interaction.
