How Effective Is Robot Therapy?: PARO and People with Dementia

Abstract

We experimented a method to verify some effective applications of PARO, a seal shaped robot, for people with dementia. We evaluated the change of patients’ behaviors without and with PARO through Dementia Care Mapping on trial. This paper demonstrates the results of the experiment and suggests several therapeutic effects of the robot on the dementia.
