Abstract

This paper discusses the effectiveness of e-Portfolio systems in improving the quality of career advising at the university level, using the case of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Ristumeikan University (Japan). e-Portfolio was mainly used to store information about students that was collected through online surveys and for students to reflect on their academic work as well as non-academic activities. It also tracked students’ motivation and factors that affected it. Faculty advising was enriched through the promotion of student independence, self-reflection, and proactive participation in school and non-school work, which collectively improved post-graduate career planning strategies.
