Introduction

The Steel GridShell of the Yas Island Marina Racetrack Hotel designed by Asymptote Architects was completed in November 2009, the integrated delivery of project team was comprised of Wagner Biro as the GridShell Fabricators, Schlaich Bergermann as the structural engineers and GridShell consultants, Front Inc as the Panel Assembly Fabricators, Evolute as the tessellation optimization consultants and Gehry Technologies Inc as the Integrated Delivery of Project consultants. In this paper we will focus on one aspect of the Integration Process: the automation process of generating a Digital-Mockup (DMU) of the Steel GridShell and Panel assembly, developed at Gehry Technologies.
