Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff des metabolischen Syndroms beschreibt das gemeinsame Vorkommen von abdomineller Adipositas, Glukoseintoleranz bzw.Typ-2-Diabetes mellitus, Dyslipoproteinämie und Hypertonie. Eine erweiterte Definition schließt eine gestörte Fibrinolyse, eine Mikroalbuminurie und eine Hyperurikämie ein (Übersicht 8.1). Langzeitstudien zeigen, dass die Verknüpfung dieser Komponenten mit einem hohen kardiovaskulären Risiko verbunden ist. (Hanefeld et al. 1996, Schulte et al. 1999).
