Digital Signal Processing

Abstract

The DSP systems presented in Chaps. 14 of this book are all single-rate systems, as the sampling rate is fixed. There are, however, many applications where it is necessary to change the sampling rate of the signal at different stages in the signal processing chain. Such multirate systems play a particularly pivotal role in the areas of filter banks, digital-to-analog conversion, de-noising, and compression. This chapter deals with the fundamentals of multirate signal processing and introduces some important multirate DSP applications.
