Research Projects

Part of the Studies in Computational Intelligence book series (SCI, volume 469)

Abstract

Experience with the GUHA procedures implemented in the LISp-Miner system [51, 52, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88] led to a strong belief in the importance of using domain knowledge in particular steps of GUHA applications. Also the importance of the careful presentation of results to “problem owners” was recognized together with possibilities of automatic preparation of analytical reports presenting results of analyses and disseminating them through the Semantic web. These conclusions are in accordance with the research trends in data mining formulated in [96]. This resulted in the launch of several mutually related research projects. Even though these research problems do not originate with observational calculi, their solution can profit from results concerning observational calculi. In addition, these problems can lead to the formulation of new research problems and challenges to observational calculi research. The goal of this chapter is to outline the main features of these projects.
