Automated External Defibrillators in the Aquatic Environment

Abstract
The use of the automated external defibrillator (AED) has become widely adopted and a part of standard CPR training. This chapter discusses the AED in the Chain of Survival, and, in particular, its potential use in the aquatic environment.
