Free Fall on the Rotating Earth

Abstract

On the earth, the form of the basic equation of mechanics derived in the previous chapter holds if we neglect the rotation about the sun and therefore consider a coordinate system at the earth center as an inertial system. In this chapter, we will discuss the effect of the earth’ rotation on the motion of masses near the earth’ surface.
