Nanoscale Spatial Effects of Pulse Shaping

Abstract

Commonly used pulse-shaping techniques create a coupling between the spatial and temporal characteristics of the shaped femtosecond laser pulse. Consequently, measured apparent responses to shaped pulses that might seem produced by time domain molecular dynamics could in fact be due to spatial changes in the electric field.
