Determination of the biocompatibility of biomaterials by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
Conference paper
Abstract
Scanning electron microscopy is an excellent method to determine the biocompatibility of biomaterials. With the possibility of showing the surface of biomaterials and measuring the surface properties of the material of interest like surface roughness, fins on bone implants or homogeneity of surface layers this method has also the potential to show the interface between biomaterial and biological layers.
