Rapidly increasing digital media technologies and compression standards combined with today’s multimedia mobile devices and the Internet have led to the widespread exchange of multimedia contents. This, however, brings the problem of handling and accessibility of such a massive digital media from a variety of devices (hand held phones to personal computers). Mobile devices are not only limited in size, shape and input/output capabilities, but also have limited processing power, storage space, battery power and proprietary application programming interfaces. Therefore content-based multimedia retrieval from mobile devices is a challenge.
