Zusammenfassung

Der folgende Aufsatz wurde ursprünglich als Beitrag zu einem Sammelwerk über die Theorie der Sozialstruktur geschrieben. Die Einladung, sich an diesem Band zu beteiligen, war für Parsons der gegebene Anlaß, ein Spezialthema darzustellen, das ihn — und seine Mitarbeiter — seit einer Reihe von Jahren zunehmend beschäzftigt. Es handelt sich um die Analyse der symbolischen Tauschmedien — der generalized symbolic media of interchange — als Komponenten von Sozialsystemen und den anderen Handlungssystemen.
