The Other and theCulture of Peace in Islamic Tradition

  • Mohammed Hurani

Abstract

I will have to hold my presentation in English today. Though English is not my mother tongue. It is also not a part of my culture. Many Palestinians have suffered from bad experiences under the rule of the British mandate half a century ago, which led to a kind of anti-English attitude. A lot of my students still suffer this cultural phenomenon and they succeeded by crystallizing a kind of hatred towards the English language. But I hope I am able to present myself this evening without any cultural obstacles and without cultural mistakes.
