Abstract

The lumbar plexus is composed of ventral rami from L1-4 and limited contributions from T12. The plexus ultimately terminates in ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, genitofemoral, lateral femoral cutaneous, femoral, obturator and accessory obturator nerves. Lumbar plexus blockade can be utilized for surgery of the hip, front of the thigh and knee.
