Testimony Amela Kreso
Kreso’s testimony talks about the beginning of the war in Mostar in May 1993. At that time she met the actress Hadžija Hadžibajramović, an ensemble member of the Mostar National Theatre, who organized auditions to build up an amateur theatre group. Kreso joined Hadžibajramović’s group as an actress, and remembers theatre during the war in Mostar as a form of catharsis—for the actors, as well as for the audience. Kreso also writes about traveling from Mostar to Sarajevo for a guest performance at the Sarajevo National Theatre during the city’s siege. She concludes by talking about the quite specific mixed audience (the elderly, soldiers, refugees etc.) during the Bosniak-Croat war.
