Abstract

Chromatography itself was developed by the Russian biochemist M. S. Tswett in the early 20th century. The first article on thin-layer chromatography was published in 1938 by N. A. Izmailov and M. S. Schreiber. N. M. Turkeltaub and M. M. Senyavin were among the first who developed gas chromatography before the known works of A. Martin; A. A. Zhukhovitskii, A. V. Kiselev, and V. G. Berezkin also made a significant contribution to this method. The original chromatomembrane method was developed by L. N. Moskvin and co-workers. V. A. Davankov authored the enantioselective ligand-exchange chromatography. Of interest is the critical chromatography of polymers (A. V. Gorshkov and V. V. Evreinov). A technology for obtaining polycapillary chromatographic columns was developed in Novosibirsk.
