The surgeon may first encounter a patient at any point along the timeline of the diagnosis, workup, or treatment of colon adenocarcinoma. From an emergent consultation for perforation to an elective clinic referral for newly diagnosed tumor to a multidisciplinary tumor board evaluation for complex multivisceral resection, surgeons must be familiar with the clinical approach for many scenarios. The algorithms presented herein detail contemporary evaluation and management of colon cancer patients.
