Perimeter Traces and Tails
The touch sensor electrodes are routed around the sensor substrate using a low resistivity conductor like silver. Ground traces are also run around the perimeter for ESD protection. A flexible circuit tail is bonded to the substrate using an anisotropic conductive adhesive. The overall size of the sensor is defined by the process used to create the traces, the electrode pitch, and the location of the tails. Larger sensors may require double routing.
