Robotics in the Military

Military surgeons also use robotic assistance when performing laparoscopic procedures. However the military is also trying to extend the use of robots to the battlefield to help with diagnosis, triage, hemorrhage control, and even surgical care. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is funded by the Department of Defense, and it supports many projects in both the military and civilian sector that are aimed to improve medical care during combat. This chapter is the summary of those projects.
