Abstract

I bring the window of Emily Dickinson’s It Dropped So Low in My Regard to the landscape of what might help us distinguish precious from ordinary in our vocational exercise, and suggest how we might tolerate and buffer the shattering of various vocational illusions. I illustrate this allegory with an experience from my supervision practice.
