Conclusion: After Angria

  • Emma Butcher

The conclusion of this book traces the legacy of war and militarism in the Glass Town and Angrian juvenilia through to Branwell’s later poetry, then through to Charlotte’s later works, after her writing partnership with Branwell had ended. It demonstrates that Charlotte made a conscious break away from how her and her brother treated war in their juvenilia, offering a discussion of how war was adapted and, in most cases, silenced and reimagined by Charlotte later in her life. The conclusion also consolidates the findings of this book, reiterating the siblings’ importance as post-war writers, commentators and historians.
