Abstract

The anti-Jewish boycott that broke out after an election to the Fourth Duma in 1912 in the Polish Kingdom can be analysed as an effect of the trauma of the Revolution of 1905 and the rise of National Democracy as a new force on the political Right. In addition, panic in response to a wave of Russian-Jewish immigrants (Litvaks) in the first decades of the twentieth century to Polish lands triggered distrust between the Poles and Jews. These events inaugurated political anti-Semitism as a dominant factor in Polish public life for decades to come.
