The Challenge (Why Do Advanced Technology Development?)
So, about a month or so goes by. I have got a hang of working in the lab and getting the data. I now know how to work a prober – basically a setup where a centipede-like fixture is aligned and contacts the pads on the test chip so that appropriate measurements can be made on the corresponding test structures. I know how to program all the instruments to conduct the required measurements. And these measurements virtually involve counting individual electrons and measuring the speed of light. Wow! And I know how to download the data into the lab database and to do the initial sorting and data manipulating. And I am beginning to learn how to create models that describe the device characteristics – which are then used in design. Rad!
