Chapter

Abstract

Today, pianist-accompanists regularly collaborate with other musicians—sometimes with several at a time—in performances of Lieder and other songs; sonatas for solo instruments and piano—violin, clarinet, and so on; and chamber works. Samuel Sanders and Martin Katz concentrate in their interviews on their own experiences as keyboard collaborators, while Graham Johnson concentrates on his keyboard experiences with British composer Benjamin Britten (1913–1976) and members of Britten’s musical circle.
