CCODE: A New Perspective on Factors that Influence the Growth of Technology Transfer Offices

Chapter
Part of the SxI - Springer for Innovation / SxI - Springer per l'Innovazione book series (SXIINNO, volume 14)

Abstract

CCODE was developed by Pete Frederick and Phil Bullimore of Pera Consulting as a tool to help coaches support small business (SME) growth. It is a robust model of business growth, made up of 20 ‘factors’ that affect the growth potential in SMEs, which are grouped into five categories: Capability Capacity, Opportunity, Desire and Environment. It has been used in PROGRESS-TT to put growth factors identified for Technology Transfer into a context that unified both academic and business aspirations. This chapter describes in detail how CCODE™ was used as a framework for Technology Transfer growth factors and ultimately used to provide the critical areas of focus of the PROGRESS-TT training, coaching and mentoring activities.
