Abstract
Grownups and older people come to the fore here and Brian Young discusses why ownership and possession are of great importance to people as they grow older. The work of Russell Belk is seminal and his analysis of both the extended self and the virtual self as we enter the world of virtual ‘stuff’ is reviewed and developed. Future research in this area however is needed as internet based consumption and virtual reality is becoming much more of a universal resource.
