Abstract

The sympathetic nervous system consists of encephalic nerve centers from which preganglionic fibers depart that will synapse in the ganglia with neurons that originate in the postganglionic fibers and will innervate the sweat glands. In this chapter anatomical aspects of this system are described that must be known to the physician who performs surgical procedures on the sympathetic chain.
