Mandibular Bone Graft

Abstract

Mandibular bone graft is the prime source donor for oral reconstruction in the dental implantology. Bone harvested from mandibular area can be used for reconstruction of small until complex defect. Cortical and cancellous bone can be harvested from this area. The bone from the mandible is better to resist from resorption compared to the donor bone from extraoral region.

Various techniques for harvesting and doing bone grafting with mandibular bone graft are described in this chapter. A predictable result with shorter healing time can be achieved using a proper technique.
