Abstract

The 2 week wait referral pathway is in place to allow prompt diagnosis of suspected cancers. A range of key red flag indicators have been identified and warrant immediate referral to the hospital for further investigation and treatment where necessary. It is important to be aware that occasionally vague symptoms can be indicative of underlying sinister pathology and this should be borne in mind when reviewing patients in primary care.
