My Approach to Retinal Detachment: A Russian Perspective

  • Victor Kazaykin
Chapter

Abstract

Modern equipment for vitreoretinal surgery provides a possibility to achieve retinal attachment nearly in all the patients, but retinal attachment postoperatively is more important. For this purpose, it is necessary to eradicate all tractions to the retina and maximally remove media capable to cause proliferative process (posterior hyaloid, blood, etc.) with minimal trauma to ocular tissues. Success of operation is composed of many technical “tricks” which finally provide maximal preservation of visual functions, minimize the possibility of proliferative process, and create more possibilities for reoperations in case of redetachment.
